Troedel - Melbourne Album |
The Melbourne Album - Charles Troedel. "Perhaps the finest work of urban topography produced in Australia in the 18th century." (Wantrup)
The Melbourne Album is a splendid series of 24 lithographed views issued in 12 monthly parts between August 1863 and July 1864.
Charles Troedel was born in 1836 and was apprenticed to his father at age 13. At the age of 24, Troedel emigrated to Melbourne, arriving in Williamstown on board the "Great Britain" in 1860. Each of the following items is a tinted lithograph with hand-coloured highlights. They are all in excellent condition.
